What's Happening in Manchester, England…

Manchester Weekender poster design revealed

The design for the poster that will promote this year's Manchester Weekender was revealed recently thanks to an in-depth article in design publication Creative Review.

Manchester Weekender is a celebration of all things art and culture-related and is set to kick off its fourth year of recognising the creative scene of the city. Creative Review commended the work on the poster that will promote this festival and the design is currently being rolled out across all of the event’s communications. The festival spans all elements of culture, from secret music gigs to gastronomic food tours and even a cinema that is powered by people pedalling bikes.

Manchester-based artist Emily Forgot created the identity for this year's festival, using an abstract design that is inspired by the phrase, 'All roads lead to Manchester'. Speaking about her design, which will be used across posters and in 3D at various venues throughout the festival, Emily said:

"I'm really looking forward to seeing this aspect of the project as I love seeing projects come to life within a space and regularly push my work in this direction. Being at the computer for so much of the creative process it’s nice to see the work become a physical, tangible object."

The posters will be produced using full colour printing. Manchester Weekender is set to take place at venues across the city from 10 to 13 October 2013. More information about the events on offer can be found on the official website, which is part of the Creative Tourist main site.
