What's Happening in Manchester, England…

Manchester Airport launches poster advertising campaign

A new poster campaign has been launched by one of the North West's busiest airports in a bid to attract new custom.

The initiative recently kicked off by Manchester Airport declares itself as the 'low cost airport of the north'.

The rebranding of the airport as somewhere which offers cheaper travel options than its adversaries in the north of England could see it looking to take business away from neighbouring flight hubs, like Liverpool John Lennon Airport, by targeting potential customers who live in the area.

The posters are being displayed around areas like Warrington and St Helens and it is estimated that 22 million people are being targeted as part of the campaign. The posters have been designed to catch the eyes of passers-by and have been created using full colour printing.

Manchester Airport's chief commercial officer, Keith O'Toole, spoke about the campaign, saying:

“The low cost campaign is focussed on attracting passengers back to Manchester who might not be aware that we have increased our range of services over the last year.

“Airlines have increased their offering this summer and we’ve seen a positive increase in passenger numbers but we’re not stopping and want to continue to attract passengers from across the north of England.”

The promotion is set to target travellers in the run up to the summer holiday period with a view to securing new customers who may otherwise have used other airports, such as those in the capital and the Midlands.
