Pupils from the £3.5 million
Sir Frank Whittle Studio School took on the roles of guides for the day, taking their parents around the various cutting edge facilities for sport, business and engineering that it has to offer.
These facilities are being targeted at teenagers aged between 14 and 18 in the local area and Paul Hostead, its head teacher, stated that he was thrilled to witness such large numbers of parents opting to take the tour. He added:
“Even in temporary accommodation and with huge community support, we have seen our school go from strength to strength where people from as far afield as Europe have been visiting us to learn about what we do.”
Those behind the school have stated that it represents an entirely fresh UK educational concept, with the aim of connecting education and employment more closely.
Pupils at the school will undertake business projects, as well as collaborating with local companies that have forged links with the school. It is hoped that this will lead to real-world learning, ensuring they gain the skills needed to thrive within the employment market.
