Budding designers encouraged to support Poppy Appeal

There has been a call for young artists in Lutterworth to allow their creative skills to flourish in support of this year's Poppy Appeal, with a poster design competition set to take place next month.

Children and teenagers throughout the region are being asked to pick up their pencils, Pens or paintbrushes in aid of the work carried out by the Poppy Appeal by creating their own artistic interpretation of the cause. It is hoped that the entries can be used as poster designs to encourage people to make donations. The theme for the competition this year is the Royal British Legion.

The Royal British Legion is known for four core values: comradeship, health and welfare, representation and, of course, remembrance. Young people between the ages of five and 18 are encouraged to enter the competition and to represent one or all of these values in their poster designs.

The winning Posters will be chosen by the Royal British Legion and will be reproduced by a professional printing company offering full colour poster printing. Lutterworth shops, businesses and community centres will then display the winning Posters in the run up to Remembrance Sunday as a way to remind local people about the event and to encourage them to give money to the Poppy Appeal.

The deadline for poster design competition entries is 5:00pm on Friday October 25. Those looking to take part are able to hand their designs in at the mail office on Northampton Road in Harborough.
