Bonfire night at Lutterworth Golf Club proves a hit

The fireworks display held to celebrate Bonfire Night at Lutterworth Golf Club was reportedly a resounding success, with around 2,000 residents of the town attending the display.

The event, which took place on the first weekend in November, was aided by favourable weather conditions – although it had not looked like that would be the case when the earlier part of the day saw heavy rainfall.

However, the rain had stopped by the middle of the afternoon, and stayed off for the next six hours, ensuring a big crowd for the festivities. About 600 of those present were youngsters from the area.

All the money raised during the evening will be put towards either making improvements to the facilities at the golf club, or donated to local and national charities, making the healthy attendance welcome.

Local events of this kind rely on the help of businesses that can support them, as much as the weather, with the likes of Print companies in Lutterworth that can supply promotional flyer printing being particularly crucial to their success.

Lee Challinor, a pro from the club, handled much of the organisation, alongside volunteers, and afterwards he said:

β€œIt went well, and we had good feedback about the fireworks and the whole night.”

The display came courtesy of local company Celestial Fireworks, while the Mayor of Lutterworth, Philip Toye, was present to light the bonfire.
