Epsom and St Helier University Hospital Trust is set to be given additional funding to the tune of thousands of pounds next year, to enable it to carry out important upgrades.
Matt Hancock, the Health Secretary, has confirmed that the Trust will be one of the organisations that benefits from a £600m fund to pay for maintenance in various English hospitals. Ten of these essential improvements are to be carried out by Epsom and St Helier Trust, and it is being allocated a total of £11,557 from the fund to complete these works.
Among the improvements to be made to the hospital are the construction of brand new lifts within it, upgrades to its fire safety equipment and improvements to its electrical and ventilation systems. The hospitals in the area can turn to Stationery printers based in the area if they need Forms printed for administrative use.
This latest fund represents part of wider government levelling up Plans for NHS hospitals throughout the country and, speaking to Your Local Guardian, councillor Nick McLean stated that:
“These crucial projects will deliver immediate benefits and provide NHS staff with the facilities they need to provide world class care to patients, helping our NHS to build back better after the pandemic.”
A date for the work to start has not yet been announced.
