Epsom to host Ukraine culture festival

A festival that is dedicated to all things Ukrainian will be coming to Epsom at the start of this year, as the town does its bit for the country.

This event is being put together by Epsom and Ewell Borough Council and is being described as a ‘Festival of Friendship’. It is set to run for one week and will explore the culture of the country, as well as offering activities suitable for children. Other organisations that will be closely involved in the festival include Epsom Picturehouse, Epsom Library and the Epsom and Ewell Refugee Network.

Among the activities that will be part of the programme for it are screenings of Ukrainian films, exhibitions looking at its culture, workshops to teach people more about it and games for young children.

Residents will be given the chance to take part in traditional crafting while listening to Ukrainian folk music. A number of people from Ukraine have moved to the borough, so this festival will also be aimed at them.

Poster printing by Epsom shops can help with the promotion of local festivals like this one. Posters can be a good way of attracting attention.

Clive Woodbridge from the council said that the hope was that the festival would unite locals and Ukrainian nationals.

It is scheduled to get underway on 27 January, with the event to launch it being held in Epsom Library.
