A brand-new care home containing rooms for nearly 100 elderly people in Epsom and the surrounding area may be created at a site that currently houses two disused buildings.
These buildings were an ambulance station and police station at one point, but have not been in use for some time. Now it is hoped that they can be converted into a care home that would contain a total of 96 beds. Plans for the project have been submitted to Epsom and Ewell Borough Council and the company behind them is awaiting a decision.
Some issues have been raised by the Epsom Civic Society about whether a further care home is what the area most pressingly needs. However, it has been pointed out that this particular facility would include specialist care for those residents who suffer from dementia, which is not available elsewhere.
It would also have lawns for playing croquet and bowls on, as well as car parking spaces in the basement. Brochure printing from Epsom shops can help the developers behind projects like this produce Brochures showing off their ideas.
The site where the three- to five-storey care home would be built is on Church Street. The former police station that would be converted into it was constructed back in the 1960s but has been lying vacant for over 10 years now.
