A man from Epsom who has survived six battles with cancer will be heading off to Africa early next year to take part in the latest round of his ongoing marathon challenge.
Jonathan Acott is aged 44 and has been fighting cancer for a large part of his adult life. He has battled against tumours in his bowel, kidney, lungs and chest during that time, but is now free of the disease following a recent blood test. Despite these serious health problems, he is now taking part in an arduous challenge that will see him run a total of seven marathons in each of the seven continents on earth.
He began this challenge by running the Berlin Marathon during September, completing it in just under five hours, and now he is set to travel from Epsom to Africa so he can run in the Marrakech Marathon, held in Morocco. People watching marathons sometimes use banner printing services so that they can support the runners.
Speaking to the Sutton and Croydon Guardian, Jonathan stated that taking part in events of this sort had helped him with his recovery. Prior to this, he had undertaken the Iron Man challenge and scaled Mount Kilimanjaro while still recovering from treatment.
He will be travelling to Morocco for the marathon during January 2020.
