Charity Christmas show planned for Epsom

A musical society based in Epsom will be hosting its yearly Christmas concert later this month, and this time it is in aid of a local charitable group.

The show organised by the Epsom Choral Society will be asking those who attend to donate money to the Epsom and Ewell Refugee Network. This is a group of local people who offer asylum seekers and refugees support, with members of the group set to be at the show in a bid to encourage donations.

The venue for this year’s concert will be St Martin’s Parish Church, on Church Street, and it will get underway at 7:30pm. Those putting together events of this sort often turn to flyer printing to help get the word out to the local community.

Among the music that residents can look forward to hearing is a range of carols, as well as performances by pianist Marion Lea, organist Benedict Lewis-Smith and the London Metropolitan Brass Quintet. There will also be popular Christmas songs attendees can join in with.

Speaking to the Surrey Comet, the society’s chairman, Helen Phillips, said:

“We hope that by inviting the Epsom Refugee Network to hold the retiring collection at the end of our Christmas Concert, we might help meet the needs of others who arrive here from far afield seeking support.”

The event will take place on 22nd December.
