What's Happening in Acton, England…

Popular American band is Acton-bound

The Texan band Khruangbin is currently on its 'A La Sala' tour, and is due to give an outdoor performance in Acton in mid-August.

This innovative threesome from Houston consists of Laura Lee on bass guitar, Mark Speer on lead guitar, and drummer Donald Johnson Jr. Inspired and influenced by global music, in particular 1960's Thai funk, they take their name, Khruangbin from the Thai phrase ‘Engine Fly'.

The band released their first single, 'A Calf Born In Winter', in May 2014. It garnered support from DJs Zane Lowe and Cerys Matthews, as well as from a diverse range of musical publications, notably 'Test Pressing', 'The 405' and 'Ransom Note'.

Khruangbin’s debut LP 'The Universe Smiles Upon You' came out in 2015 to much critical acclaim, attracting a larger audience. This was followed up by two other album releases, 'Con Todo El Mundo' (2018) and Mordechai (2020), both to positive receptions.

The band has previously opened for the likes of Father John Misty, Chicano Batman and Massive Attack, not to mention appearing at festivals such as Lockn, Glastonbury, Outside Lands and South by Southwest.

Tickets cost £105.00. Print shops can provide a valuable service when it comes to the promotion of a concert or musical event.

Khruangbin's show has a starting time of 4.00 pm on Friday, 15 August at Gunnersbury Park, Acton.
