A crazy golf course is set to replace a disused feature at a bowls club.

Following a recent two-hour long debate held by local councillors, a dilapidated pavilion located at Gunnersbury Park Bowls Club will now be the site of a crazy golf course.

The decision will see the club that has occupied the location since 1931 have its pavilion restored and repurposed, while its green will be removed in favour of an artificial grass course for putters. The newly planned course will be constructed and operated by Putt in the Park, which currently runs other crazy-golf venues around the city, like the one in nearby Acton, located off the high street.

The recent committee meeting saw council planners support the new initiative, with six members in favour and three opposing the motion, with one abstention.

Director of Putt in the Park, Justin Fish, addressed the council’s committee stating that he hoped around 30,000 rounds of crazy golf would be played on the course every year. He added that the rent being paid to use the site of the decrepit pavilion could contribute to the upkeep of the local park, along with its dedicated museum.
