What's Happening in Acton, England…

A special event in Acton Town is bringing a first-hand account of an entertainer’s exploration of the climate emergency.

The ActOne Cinema & Cafe in Acton has been selected as the venue to present an event that combines a live performance and film to draw attention to the environmental emergency the planet is facing. Cinemas, theatres and other venues presenting plays and films typically count on specialist poster printing services to create engaging one-sheets that advertise shows and titles.

The event begins with Can I Live?, a production written and performed by artist Fehinti Balogun, in collaboration with Complicité, a globally renowned theatre company. Through animation, rap, spoken word and theatre, Balogun explores the fundamental threats facing our planet.

A screening of the documentary Fairytales of Growth will explore young people’s awareness of environmental issues and how they are driving change. A question-and-answer panel will then be held, featuring the film’s director Pierre Smith Khanna and green party councillor Rupert Read.

Can I Live? And Fairytales of Growth: a Climate Emergency Event will be held at the ActOne Cinema & Café on Saturday, November 18. The cinema can be found at The Old Library at 119-121 Acton High Street, and the programme will start at 2pm. Tickets are priced between £3 and £14 per person, based on how easily they can meet the costs of their basic needs.
