'Nicole Farhi in Conversation with Anthony Julius' is an artistic and cultural event due to take place near Acton in mid-June.
This sculptress, CBE, and member of the RSS, who also works as a fashion designer, will discuss with the prominent lawyer her exhibition 'J’Accuse…! Sculptures by Nicole Farhi'. It features 25 ceramic busts portraying people worldwide who were previously the victims of a miscarriage of justice in the last 125 years.
These cases mark important points in legal history, the inspiration coming from Émile Zola’s letter published in 1898 that highlighted Captain Alfred Dreyfus's plight. Her pieces will encourage those attending to consider the human impact of such injustices.
The lawyer, academic, and writer, Anthony Julius, who is Mishcon de Reya deputy chairman, is a recognised authority on cases of great legal importance. He notably defended historian Deborah Lipstadt in a landmark libel case.
This talk will discuss instances of legal failures and attendees should bear in mind the nature of the subject matter.
