Acton invites visitors to take a trip into the world of travel

The London Transport Museum Depot is holding several 'Depot Open Days: From Past to Present' in Acton at the beginning of July.

It is currently used as a store, retaining most of the museum's collections not currently displayed at their Covent Garden site, and contains 6,000 square metres of safe, environmentally regulated conditions, where curators catalogue and preserve objects for posterity.

There are over 320,000 listed items in this important ledger of urban transport. These include original artworks, a famous poster collection, vehicles, models (notably a miniature railway), signage, pictures, technical drawings and Apparel.

This is a chance to learn more about the story behind London's travel network. It also anticipates a green future with both modern and historic exhibits. The vehicles to be seen include everything from trolly buses to an electric train as well as city rental bikes.

Visitors will discover one of London's less well-known attractions, and while there, can enjoy talks by experts, musical entertainment, food and fun activities.

Tickets range in price from £9.00 for a child to £17.50 for an adult. Print shops can provide a valuable service for those involved in historical or cultural events.

The London Transport Museum 'Depot Open Days: From Past to Present' will take place between Friday, 5 and Sunday, 7 July at the Depot in Acton.
