Acton-based carer to raise money for diabetes

An Acton carer who has raised almost £2,000 for UK charities has set her sights on helping those suffering from diabetes here in Britain.

A dedicated caring professional at Acton Care Centre on Gunnersbury Lane, known simply as “Erika”, raised £1,992 for a wide variety of charities that include Dementia UK and Cancer Research since 2021, by completing both the Half Marathon Winter Walk and the 10km Winter Run.

The carer originally set herself a target to raise £250, but exceeded this figure by visiting local firms around Acton and its surrounding areas and asking for support from them in person. Non-profit organisations and charities sometimes use professional brochure printing services to create informational Booklets and pamphlets that raise awareness for their campaigns.

After completing the two events, Erika now has a new goal in mind and is set to complete a brand new challenge while raising funds for Diabetes UK. The charity is one that is close to her heart as both residents at the centre she works at, and her late mum, have been affected by the disease.

The Acton care worker will complete one million steps this year and has already started to gather sponsorship from her friends, family members and co-workers.

Between July 1 and September 30, 2022 Erika will be completing here challenge to raise funds for Diabetes UK.
