Acton and Windsor companies plan merger

An Acton-based dairy firm Plans to merge with a Windsor-based enterprise.

Acton dairy company Freshways and Windsor-based business Medina Dairy are planning a merger that will see their operations become a single business. The firms have stated that they believe the new endeavour will be in the best interest of not only their staff and customers but also the UK farmers that supply them.

Together the two companies have a combined turnover recorded at £400 million enabling it become part of the top 10 dairy processors here in the UK, ahead of Yeo Valley and County Milk Products. A spokesperson for the Freshways Group commented that through it discussions with Medina Dairy, it became apparent that the two companies complemented each other in terms of culture and capabilities. They added that the merger would allow them to create a more efficient business that could develop and grow.

If approved by UK regulators the newly formed business is set to employ around 1,000 people and process around 500 million litres of milk that is farm assured by the British Red Tractor scheme. An all-new management structure and board will be established to oversee the transition of the merger, strategic development, and continuing operations.
