The scorching 30 degree weather wasn’t the hottest news of the day on June 25th. That accolade went instead to the announcement of the expansion of the Vaughn Mills retail center.
The $87 million improvements will increase the number of stores by around 50, and the total floor area by 200,000 sq ft.
The enhancements will also include an expansion of the food court and an increased amount of seating for the diners; there will even be full coverage Wi-Fi.
The construction of a new event area with moveable seating will cement the center’s reputation as a prime venue for local shows and demonstrations, while a new and improved grand entrance will welcome customers in style.
Vaughn Mills currently serves more than 14 million shoppers every year, and its central location puts it within easy reach of at least 155 million more. It has been in operation for over a decade, and employs more than 6,000 people with around 3,000 of these jobs being full-time positions.
An expansion such as this can often lead to spin off benefits to the local economy. Print companies, for example, are sure to see an increase in business, as the news stores will all need signage, employee uniforms, custom Stationery and Business Cards.
The expansion to the shopping center is due to be completed late in 2014, and it is hoped that shops will be open to the public for the busy Christmas shopping season. The enhanced retail experience is sure to be appreciated by all.
