Vaughan to join in Ontario Culture Days

Vaughan will once again be a major part of the Ontario Culture Days celebration this year, with events aiming to showcase Southern Ontario’s diverse culture.

The festival will kick off with a flag-raising ceremony at City Hall, including a live performance by the Victoria International Ballet Academy, including both classical and contemporary styles of dance. Vaughan Public Libraries will hold its annual Bookfest celebration featuring local authors and works, workshops, and hands-on activities, as well as a pair of Kitchen Traditions cooking classes. The festival even includes a way to stay physically active with a “Art In Motion” trail allowing people to walk or run a two-kilometre route taking them past community hubs and historic buildings. Other events will highlight Forms of dance, martial arts, and creativity from across the globe.

Culture Days is a province-wide initiative to promote cultural programming and diversity throughout Ontario. The Vaughan festivities, which include over a dozen side events hosted by various groups, is part of a city-wide strategy to promote Vaughan as a cultural hotspot, and will also draw on institutions like the McMichael Gallery and Vaughan International Film Festival. Cities often use tools such as brochure printing and social media outreach to promote themselves as a destination for tourism and cultural events.

Vaughan’s Ontario Culture Days events will take place from September 23 to October 15 at various locations throughout the city.
