Vaughan studies population demographics

There is a general belief that the country’s population is aging, and one city council recently wanted to find out if this held true in the Vaughan region.

According to Ms. Gonsalves, who is a director in the city’s Strategy and Partnership branch, research has shown that this is the case.

It is expected that by 2031, the number of residents over the age of 65 will double, and that one out of every five people in the area will be over the age of 65. In fact, within the next two years, the senior age bracket will outnumber those aged 15-24.

With this shift in demographics, it’s going to be very important that there are supports in place for those who require them, with services geared to the specific needs of the residents.

The “baby boomer” age groups are expected to want to continue to be active, to work, volunteer and even go back to school based on their interests. Their health is generally expected to be good and their lifespan longer than those in their senior years today. It is also believed that the majority of them will want to “age in place”, rather than move into seniors’ housing or a nursing home.

As more and more people will likely continue to want to remain employed in their “golden years” , some may even choose to start their own business. Should they do this, Print companies can provide them with all the printed materials that they will need to make it a success.
