Adolescence can present unique challenges to someone on the spectrum, and a program that is being offered in Vaughan will help guide them through this sometimes difficult situation.
The programming, which runs for between 11 and 13 days, will help young adults living with an ASD ease the transition into the adult lifestyle of their choice. They will receive guidance in their exploration of what their local community offers them with a goal of building friendships and other relationships along the way.
The group will discover how they can access resources in their area ,visit a local gym, take part in social, leisure and recreational activities, and meet other people living with autism. The people who take part in the opportunity will utilize their own technology to prepare schedules of the activities, and will have a chance to practice their language and social skills.
The Autism, Adult Transition initiative has been organized by NextStep Support, and only a limited number of spaces are available. A local printing services company can supply customized Journals, agenda sheets, social story Brochures, and other printed tools that can help those who take part get the most from an offering such as this.
This chance for young adults with an ASD to make the transition to their adult life a little bit easier will be offered in Vaughan starting on July 1. More details can be found on its online event listing.
