Vaughan prepares for annual Culture Days
For the 10th year running, the city of Vaughan will present its annual Culture Days, a weekend-long festival of diverse cultural activities and events.
The goings-on will be divided between three “hubs” across the city. The West Hub will be the McMichael Canadian Art Gallery, which will be offering free admission and a number of special events, including an Indigenous garden naming ceremony. The East Hub, the Thoreau MacDonald House, will showcase artwork from emerging Vaughan and GTA artists. The Centre Hub, at Vaughan Metropolitan Centre Transit Square, will feature the largest array of events, ranging from an opportunity to build with giant Figura pieces to a “Vaughan’s Coolest Canine Contest.” Other celebrations, including food, music and dance, will go on at all three locations.
Culture Days is a nationwide program created by the Canadian Arts Summit in 2010, based on Quebec’s Journees de la Culture program. It boasts of millions of attendees across thousands of events each year. Local organizers select the content, making it a grassroots effort at the same time as a national one. Local cultural events like this often use tools like banner printing and brochure printing to advertise and leave a lasting impression.
Vaughan’s Culture Days will kick off with a launch event on the night of Thursday, September 26 at the Vaughan Metropolitan Cenre, and concludes on the Sunday after.
