Vaughan Mills to expand in 2013

The Vaughan Mills shopping mall is expanding; adding 150,000 square feet of space. This will make room for three more tenants and 50 new retail stores.

Currently, Vaughan Mills has 200 stores and 16 major tenants. Ivanhoe Cambridge, the company which owns the mall, is investing $87 million in the redevelopment and expansion.

Among the expansions will be an entertainment court with the theme of ‘Discover Ontario’, renovation of the food court and all common areas of the mall, and 450 new parking spaces. Improvements will also be made to the carpeting and ceilings in the common areas. The expansion is expected to begin in the spring of 2013.

Vaughan Mills is a popular shopping destination for many, with over 13.5 million people visiting every year. Part of the reason for this is its location; the complex is close to Toronto and many other large population centers.

The mall is a unique blend of outlet stores and specialty stores; many of which are American and do not have any other branches in Ontario.

Stores that are moving into Vaughan Mills would be well advised to start advertising now. They can do this with the help of local printing companies by creating Flyers. These can be sent out to everyone in the general area or to be inserted into local newspapers.

Business owners can work with the printing companies to design an entire campaign and encourage some of their current customers to visit the new location by offering discounts.
