Vaughan festival to celebrate popular culture

Vaughan Con, the city’s largest pop-culture gathering, will be returning this August, with a special appearance from wrestling royalty.

The convention will feature a special appearance from Canadian wrestling legend Bret “The Hitman” Hart, who was a multiple-time WWF world champion in the 1990s and is still regarded by many fans as “The Best There Was, The Best There Is, The Best There Ever Will Be”. Hart will be meeting with visitors and signing autographs. The first 50 visitors on Sunday will also feature a free exclusive art Print of Hart by Sketch Souldier.

The event is also a hotbed of showcasing costumes designed to mimic pop culture characters, or “cosplay”. There will be expert guests, like Eclipse Cosplay, Aby of Concussion Cosplay and Toronto Vader. Visitors at all levels of experience are encouraged to show off their outfits at the convention. There will even be flash tattoos provided by Bratty Tattoos.

Vaughan Con will also feature vendors representing local collectibles traders, food trucks, artists, and more. Conventions like this are often a place to find rare toys, trading cards, comic Books, and other items, with vendors using signage with eye-popping graphic design to help stand out on busy show floors. Mintink Trading Cards will be holding a dedicated trade night on Saturday in conjunction with the convention.

The 2025 edition of Vaughan Con will take place on August 9 and 10 at Bellevue Manor.
