Vaughan event to race frogs for charity

The Rotary Club of Woodbridge will be holding its annual Humber River Festival this September, including the much-anticipated Frog Race.

The main event of the evening will see 2,000 plastic frogs placed in the river, with visitors able to purchase a frog to represent them. Whichever ones happen to reach the finish line first will win prizes, with a grand prize of $1,000. In addition to the race, there will be a full afternoon live music line-up, including The Chunky Monkeys, Girl Pow-R, and Frankie & Anthony Cimino. The festival will be hosted by 15-year festival veteran Laura Tonelli and DJ Crates, with 10-year-old DJ Noah as a special guest. There will also be interactive activities aimed at children.

The event will be raising money for Waves of Change, a charitable organization that provides financial support for families with children on the autism spectrum seeking therapy, summer camps, and support equipment. There will be representatives of the organization on hand at the festival. Charitable events like this often use methods like flyer printing and local media promotion to raise awareness in the community. This will be the 29th annual edition of the race, which has contributed to various charitable causes over the years.

The 2024 Humber River Festival and Frog Race will take place at Nort Johnson Park and the Riverwalk Trail in Vaughan on September 1. Admission is free.
