This month will see the 8th edition of the Brilliant Minded Women Organization and Foundation Gala come to Vaughan, celebrating the efforts of women in the community.
The gala will be a formal affair, with a six-course meal and a black-tie dress code. The ceremony will be hosted by author Tanya Chernova, film festival organizer Marta Pozniakowski, and DJ Joe Disilvestre. Additional on-stage entertainment will be provided by the I.D.A. International Dance Academy, violinist Grenville Pinto, and signer Margaret Maye. Three Global Excellence Awards will be presented to health care provider Anne Marie Hayes, Indigenous art consultant Michele-Elise Burnett, and image consultant Rebecca Chu.
The gala will also feature Lifetime Achievements Awards bestowed on ice hockey exec Fran Rieder and politician Dr. Jean Augustine, the first Black Canadian woman to serve as a Member of Parliament. Other awards recognize business development and growth, self development, philanthropy, community service, charity, arts and entertainment, “Mind, Body and Spirit”, resilience, and political achievements. Recognitions like this are often highly cherished and incorporated into CVs and Business Cards. The Gala and its awards grew out of charity efforts in the Polish-Canadian community, and it is recognized by the Order of St. Stanislas.
The 2023 Brilliant Minded Women Organization and Foundation Gala will take place on November 4 at the Venu Event Space in Vaughan.
