Vaughan attraction to showcase haunting history

Vaughan’s Black Creek Pioneer Village will be kicking off “spooky season” this September with its series of Alone in the Dark walks.

The walks, also known as Ghost of the Village, involve small groups of 12 or fewer people exploring heritage buildings after dusk, led by local experts. This will include buildings like the Half Way House,, Second House, the Manse, and Burwick House, which have long attracted stories of ghosts and hauntings. Tour guides will provide information about the history and legends of Vaughan’s past.

The Alone in the Dark walks will be run by Toronto area group The Haunted Walk, who says that the Pioneer Village walks are among their most popular. Walks will run approximately 90 minutes, with flashlights provided. The venue will also be hosting a number of other horror-themed events in September and October, including the Where Dark Things Dwell interactive game. Historical walks like this often invoke local legends in flyer printing and other advertising to attract interest. Promotional material for the walks emphasize widespread interest
“Alone in the Dark - The Village at Black Creek is an unforgettably eerie evening that will delight ghost story enthusiasts, fearless paranormal investigators, history aficionados, urban explorers, and anyone with a curiosity about the unknown.”

The Alone in the Dark history walks will take place at Black Creek Pioneer Village in Vaughan on September 6, 19, and 27.
