Vaughan area trail to get Illuminated

The Mountsberg Conservation area will be adding a special touch to its trails this winter with the “Winterlit – Nature Illuminated” program.

The installation features unique lighting displays stationed across the trail during weekend evenings. This includes the Illuminated Sugarbush Trail with soft overhead lighting to create an enchanting effect. The installations are created with mysterious materials by local artisans. Lighting displays have become a popular attraction advertised everywhere from theme parks to urban downtowns, with methods like poster printing and social media used to bring in people. The attraction is marketed towards families and couples from nearby areas such as Vaughan.

The Winterlit program also includes special events on select nights. The Mountsberg Raptor Centre will be offering six “Owl Prowls” events, where guides lead guests off trail in search of owls. There will also be Winterlit Enchanted Evenings held to coincide with New Year’s Eve and Valentines Day. These events will include live performances including light and fire shows, music, and stage magic. Visitors will be able to enjoy local food and drink and be guided through crafts such as candle making, wood souvenirs, painted hearts and more.

Winterlit – Nature Illuminated will take place at the Mountsberg Conservation Area in Campbellville from December 28, 2023 to February 19, 2024, with “Owl Prowl” and “Enchanted Evening” events on select dates.
