One of York Region’s longest-running parks will be honoured through an exhibit at the Whitchurch-Stouffville Museum & Community Centre.
The exhibition, “The York Regional Forest, A Growing Legacy”, will be showcasing the York Regional Forest, and its evolution since being founded in 1924. The exhibit includes photographs, interactive experiences, and artifacts from across this century, and is part of a year-long celebration of the area that also includes free events such as festivals and forest walks.
In a statement, commissioner of community services Rob Braid expressed his hope that the event would encourage people to explore York Region’s nature more:
“This exhibition is an opportunity to connect with nature, learn about our forest's legacy, and inspire future generations to preserve and cherish this natural resource. We look forward to celebrating the York Regional Forest’s rich heritage with visitors to the Museum throughout 2024.”
Exhibits like this often use tools like brochure printing, online outreach and lecture events to further enhance the educational content and make it more accessible. The York Regional Forest is a popular destination for people in nearby municipalities like Vaughan and Richmond Hill to walk, hike, bike, ride horses, and generally appreciate nature.
“The York Regional Forest, A Growing Legacy” opened last month and will run from Wednesday to Saturday until December 16 at the Whitchurch-Stouffville Museum & Community Centre.
