Summer rib fest to scorch in Thornhill
Vaughan-area barbecue lovers could be in luck this August, as Thornhill hosts the Northern Heat Rib Series.
The Thornhill Rib & Beer Fest will bring a number of experienced barbecue pitmasters to town, with visitors able to sample different styles of ribs. Attendees can vote for their favourite ribs and sauce, with all voters entered into a draw for a $100 gift card, and will also receive two free sides with admission. There will also be a marketplace area with beer and other refreshments available. Other food on offer includes pulled pork, beef brisket, cornbread, funnel cakes, and other summer treats. Vendors and chefs like this often use business cards or other keepsakes to keep impressed customers coming back for more.
The fest also features live music, with each night featuring its own theme. Friday features country artists such as CJ Cooper and The Darren Hancock Band, while Saturday will “Rock the Park” with rock group Wicked Truth and tribute bands to The Tragically Hip and AC/DC. Sunday’s theme will be “Mash Up Hips”, highlighted by a tribute to The Rolling Stones. The festival is part of the Northern Heat Rib Series, which brings similar shows to communities across Southern Ontario.
The Thornhill Rib & Beer Fest will take place at the Dufferin Clark Community Centre on the Vaughan side of Thornhill from August 9 to 11.
