After a long, cold winter, spring has finally arrived. For Vaughan residents, this means that the annual spring clean-up is about to begin.
Crews will be out over the next few weeks picking up litter and other debris from public areas throughout the city. They will also be checking the road surfaces for potholes and other damage, which will later be repaired.
One of the major parts of this year’s cleaning will be the removal of the branches and tree limbs that were brought down by this winter’s storms from parks and other public areas.
Residents who have large branches that need to be hauled away by city crews can place them next to the road for curbside pickup. They are reminded that they should be placed with the main trunk facing the road, and they should not block the sidewalks or obstruct the view for drivers.
The picking up of leaves, twigs and other objects will start early this year. It is expected that the entire clean-up from the storms will take until the end of May.
Road sweeping will begin as soon as the streets are clear of ice and snow, and continue throughout the rest of the year.
Cleaning schedules can be produced by a flyer printing company and distributed to households throughout the city; this will keep them informed about the timing so they can have their items ready for collection.
