After holding its first edition last year, Vaughan Ribfest will be returning this May, giving local rib lovers a chance to sample some fresh meat.
The festival will feature rib teams from across North America, including Brick Yard BBQ, Uncle Sam’s Smoke House, and Sticky Fingers. In addition to traditional ribs, barbecue foods on offer will include pulled pork, brisket, and giant “dino” ribs, as well as sides including “Bloomin’ Onion”, corn, and poutine. Confirmed vendors include Funnel Cake Express, Tiny Tom Donuts, and Pappy’s Olde Fashion Soda Pop. There will also be live music, including a number of tribute bands playing the songs of legendary artists, and local acts such as DJ Socrates and Coming of Age.
Ribfest also includes a midway area set up including rides, face painting, and carnival games for a family audience, and a marketplace area featuring local businesses. Events like these are often promoted through grassroots methods like poster printing and social media, and provide an opportunity for local chefs and artisans to connect directly with new customers. The Vaughan event is hosted by Ontario Festival Events, which holds food-based festivals across the province. The festival will also be raising money for Mackenzie Vaughan Festival.
The 2024 Vaughan Ribfest will take place from May 17 to 20 at the IKEA Plaza in Assembly Park.
