New towers coming to downtown Vaughan
The Vaughan skyline will continue to grow, with a new complex of residential towers having been proposed that will be among the city’s tallest.
The proposed towers are to be part of the Festival condominium site. The site will consist of 59- and 48-storey towers, which will provide 1,300 residential units. The buildings will include amenities like music and art lounges, a pool, social club and barbecue area.
The towers are planned to be part of a three-block development that will create a north-south corridor with nine towers, a grocery store, fitness centre, office space and various stores and restaurants. The project is a collaboration between the QuadReal and Menkes real estate companies, with design by IBI Group and Cecconi Simone.
Vaughan has been a centre of development in recent years, which has seen a conscious effort to construct a downtown core, known as the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre. These developments include the TTC subway station, which opened in 2017 near the site of Festival, a large office tower that is also home to a YMCA branch and public library, and the 60-storey CG Tower. New residential buildings often use tools like banner printing to attract buyers, as do new commercial outlets.
Festival opened up sales this fall, and plans are set for construction to begin next spring. The period between the start of construction and beginning if occupancy is expected to take four years.
