New city manager selected for Vaughan

A new candidate has been chosen to fill the position of City Manager in Vaughan.

Daniel Kostopoulos, who is currently the Commissioner of Transportation Services for the York region, will be taking over the role as of June 27, having held his current job since 2013.

Kostopoulos has a background in capital planning and delivery, as well as transportation engineering and construction and environmental services, giving him plenty of experience across a wide range of city service delivery. He has an undergraduate degree from the University of Toronto in civil engineering, and a Master’s level certificate in municipal leadership from York University’s Schulich School of Business.

Vaughn’s Mayor, Maurizio Bevilacqua, remarked in a media release that he wished to welcome Kostopoulos to the city’s management team. He noted that he has a lot of experience in urban planning, and fully understands and supports the plans that have been put into place to help the community grow.
