Vaughn residents will soon have some new pieces of outdoor artwork to enjoy.
Stefano Bove has created two huge murals on the abutments that support Rutherford Road Bridge, which crosses the Humber River. There are two of them, with one depicting a sunset and the other a moonrise. The location is popular with those who hike or bike on the William Granger Greenway trail that passes under the bridge.
Bove, who recently graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, noted that he is happy to be able to have a chance to create artistic works that will be available for the general public to see and enjoy as they go about their daily routine. He lives in the area himself, and noticed the graffiti that had been painted under the bridge. It inspired him to paint the murals.
The artist adds that he had a lot of support from the Region of York. Once it heard his proposal to create the artwork, it made an offer to clean up the graffiti, prime the area to be painted, and then seal the murals once they are finished. A Print company will be able to produce signage that can be located on the trail that let those who pass by know about the pieces, the artist, and why he chose to create them.
Bove is being helped in his efforts by 10 other people, including his girlfriend.Get a Free Quote for Print
