Music festival to bring international sound to Vaughan
The Vaughan International Music Festival will be making its return this August, bringing together artists representing musical styles from around the world.
The two-day festival is a free event that aims to showcase Vaughan’s cultural diversity. The first day of the festival will be headlined by choral trio RocOpraNatra, with their signature fusion of rock, opera, and classic crooning, as well as musicians Eugene Chung, Bruno Monardo, and Simon Soman.
The Saturday evening performance will feature Mississauga-born Panamanian singer Fito Blanko, with supporting groups including NRG Band, Pan Fantasy Steel Band, and Neon Lights. Both nights will also have a live DJ keeping the rhythm going between acts.
The festival was founded to provide an opportunity for young artists and to showcase a wide variety of music, from classical to modern hip-hop. It has also created a scholarship program to help local creators access higher education and training. Music festivals such as this often use items such as brochure printing and social media to raise the profile of both the event and the artists promoted. Marketing material stresses the festival’s multicultural vision:
“VIMF is more than just a celebration of music; it's a platform that unites people from diverse backgrounds, fostering cultural appreciation and community spirit. Be a part of this enriching experience and witness the power of music to bring us together.”
The 2023 Vaughan International Music Festival will take place on August 18 and 19 at Vaughan Metropolitan Centre, with tickets available for free.
