Property owners in Vaughan and the surrounding area have been invited to make an investment in the environment and the future.
The 50 Million Tree Program will help those who take part to plant more trees by creating a site plan that will be specifically tailored to their property. The plan will also providing subsidies that have been put in place to make it less costly to purchase these trees. Brochures can be printed that explain the process, its benefits and how landowners can put it to work for them. These can include a QR code that links to the program’s online presence so those interested can get even more information.
Anyone who has a piece of land that is more than one hectare in size is invited to apply. Once approved, Forests Ontario will get in touch with them to set up a time for a local planting partner to come out and perform an assessment of the property in question. They will prepare a plan, give suggestions about which plants to select and give horticultural advice about how to look after them and keep them thriving. The owners can also apply for subsidies that can cover up to 85 percent of the cost for planting the trees.
According the CEO of Forests Ontario, Mr. Rob Keen, it is an investment in the health of both people and the environment for today, tomorrow and the years to come.
