Contribute to the City of Vaughan Toy Drive

The City of Vaughan is holding a their second annual toy drive in support of the CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish; this important program distributed over 74,000 toys to needy children last year. Those who wish to donate are asked to drop off a new, unwrapped toy for children between the ages of newborn and 18 at various community centres, libraries, fire stations and Vaughan City Hall. City Hall will be accepting toys until noon on December 14 while the other places will be accepting them until December 12.

Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua drafted letters to local business owners and local school principals asking for their help with the toy drive. Schools who participate will be given free swimming or skate passes to any City of Vaughan community centre as a way of reward for getting their students excited about the toy drive. In his letter to local businesses, the mayor asked for their assistance in collecting donations and delivering them to the CHUM Christmas Wish warehouse.

Local Vaughan businesses can also help by getting employees involved in a toy drive of their own. The business owners could motivate their staff to participate by having a draw among those who donated toys for a day off or a gift card. This push for participation could start by hanging up the Vaughan toy drive campaign poster; printing several Copies from the campaign website and posting them in various areas of the business. This colourful poster should help start up interest in a toy drive.
