What's Happening in Vaughan, ON…

Caribbean lands in Vaughan this summer

CariFest is being held for two days this August in Vaughan.

The festival is set to feature live music – including reggae and soca – from local and international performers. There will also be DJs, Caribbean and Brazilian dancers, the King and Queen Carnival costumes of Louis Saldenah, and arts and crafts vendors. In addition, a Kid Zone will have bounce castles, face painting, and costume-making workshops.

The event will kick off the night before, with a culinary workshop with Chef Selwyn Richards; participants will prepare a full menu.

A major part of the festival will be the Taste of the Tropics, which will showcase authentic Caribbean foods.

There is still time for local vendors to apply for participation in this year's festival. Organizers are also looking for volunteers to perform a variety of duties.

A flyer has been produced for this event that will likely be widely distributed in the area. Organizers may contact Vaughan stationery printers to help them design those items.

CariFest is taking place at the Woodbridge Fairgrounds from August 23rd to 24th. General admission is $5 per person. The culinary workshop will be held on August 22nd, beginning at 7:00pm; tickets are $35 each, and space is limited. Those who are interested in obtaining further information, or attending the festival as a vendor or volunteer, can call 289-236-4343.
