Canada geese take over Vaughan parking space

When Gracious Living president Enzo Macri, hired a Print company to make a ‘reserved’ sign for his prime parking spot, he naturally assumed it would be respected. Unfortunately, this wasn’t quite the case.

One day last month, Enzo noticed that a large Canada goose, which his staff have named Penelope, had decided that it was just the place to make her nest.

The goose has proven herself to be a very dedicated mother, and has protected her eggs through wind, rain and snow. It’s expected that they will hatch any day now, and until then, nothing will make her leave her nest. Employees have taped off a 50 by 20 foot area around it to let her care for them in peace.

Penelope is usually quiet, but another goose, which has been named Edgar, is a little less reserved. He defends his female companion very vigorously, and the few staff members who have got a bit too close have been chased furiously. According to some of the company’s employees, he seems to hold a particular grudge against the company’s executives, and focuses most of his protective instincts against them.

While the nesting geese may have made a bit of a nuisance of themselves, they are still proving popular with the employees, who anxiously await the arrival of the goslings. Though he has temporarily lost his parking spot, Mr Macri has said that he is happy to let the birds stay until the time comes.
