Small space gardening comes with its own set of challenges, but Toronto green thumbs will soon be able to make the most of their own garden patch thanks to an upcoming workshop.
Whether they are planting on a terrace, balcony or small yard, the workshop planned by the Toronto Botanical Garden will help city gardeners to get growing. It is open to the garden’s members and volunteers, as well as the public, and it will be held online.
The session will introduce attendees to a variety of ways to overcome the challenges faced by urban gardeners. They will find out how to maximize a small space, as well as how to choose plants that will do well in city conditions. Growing plants for food will also be included, and the guide for the activity will be Paul Gellatly, who is the garden’s Director of Horticulture.
Hosting an activity like this, which helps the public to prepare for another growing season, often proves to be quite popular. Print shops can supply a variety of learning materials to distribute by mail to everyone who takes part in such a workshop.
The date for the Unlocking the Potential, Big Ideas for Small Gardens workshop is set for February 27th. It will take place using the Zoom platform, and the fee to take part starts at $12.
