Tech summit focuses on artificial intelligence

The Toronto Tech Summit will return this month for its seventh year, with an eye to expanding artificial intelligence into commercial space.

The one-day conference features presentations from experts and leaders in the technology field. The presentations will take the form of 15 to 20-minute keynote presentations, multi-speaker panels, as well as five-minute “lightning talks” featuring popular consumer apps like Skip the Dishes and Ada Support. Attendees will also have the chance to check out booths and demos on the conference floor.

Featured guest speakers include Adam Champy, who leads a cloud AI development team at Google; Benji Sucher, the VP and COO of Layer 6 AI, and Pascal Poupart, a professor of artificial intelligence and machine learning at the University of Waterloo. In addition to keeping abreast of developments in their field, professionals often use conferences like this as a chance to network, with more than a few rounds of last-minute résumé and business card printing happening at hotels and nearby Print shops.

The Toronto Tech Summit will take place in the MaRS Discovery District near the University of Toronto on May 24. The conference is organized by Genisys, which hopes to attract attendees from nearby cities like Hamilton and Newmarket, as well as further afield. Genisys specializes in user experience, and hosts events in the Toronto area throughout the year, such as the Tech Summit and an annual ‘Hackathon’.
