The Art Gallery of Ontario is thrilled to host a traveling exhibit of one of the most influential painters of the 20th century, Pablo Picasso. The show has just opened in Toronto and will run until August 26th.
The intriguing exhibit is a collection of 150 pieces from the Musee National Picasso in Paris, which has loaned out part of its collection while under renovation. Toronto is the only Canadian stop on the tour that includes other cities such as Madrid, Helsinki, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Seattle, San Francisco, Tokyo, Abu Dhabi, and Sydney.
The AGO has displayed the collection chronologically and it contains pieces from each of the Spanish artist's creative periods during his long and illustrious career. Paintings from his Blue period, the beginnings of cubism, his surreal art, and some of his spectacular sculpture will be on display. His self-portrait entitled 'The Matador', which Picasso painted just three years before his death in 1976, will round off the exhibit.
A map of the exhibit can be found on the AGO website, showing the arrangement of the exhibit halls in the gallery. No doubt there will be maps and flyer printing to guide visitors through the exhibit, as well as self-guided audio tours. Brochure printing, documents, poster printing and Books will all be available so that visitors can take home a memento from the show.
Many of the pieces are from the artist’s personal collection; a rare glimpse into the mind of a genius. Contact the AGO website for ticket information.Get a Free Quote for Books
