The Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) is hosting a new exhibit focusing work from the 20th century, and visitors have until March next year to see the pieces on display.
The exhibit, which has been given the title ‘The Great Upheaval: Masterpieces from the Guggenheim Collection, 1910-1918’, has been put together by the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum Foundation and features pieces by some of the greatest artists who were working just before the beginning of World War I. This includes Marc Chagall, Vasily Kandinsky, Pablo Picasso, and Henri Matisse. These artists went on to influence many of those who came after them.
Gallery members will have the opportunity to view the show before it opens to the general public. The standard tickets will each have a timed entry to avoid lines building up. Once inside, guests can stay as long as they like - organizers believe it will take from 60 to 90 minutes to see everything.
As with all AGO exhibits, this one is being widely advertised in the Toronto area. It's possible that organizers have worked with local printing companies to help get the word out; this may involve investing in brochure or flyer printing services.
The works will be on show in Toronto from November 30 to March 2, 2014; the members preview will take place from November 27-29. The gallery is open from Tuesday through Sunday.
Tickets are $25 for adults, $21.50 for seniors, $16.50 for students and youth, and $62.50 for a family pass; members are admitted free of charge. Call 416-979-6626 for more information.
