Great Canadian Kayak Challenge and Festival comes to Timmins

The Great Canadian Kayak Challenge and Festival will take place at Mountjoy Historical Conservation Area in Timmins on August 27-28. Firms who wish to take part in the festival as exhibitors will be arranging for the printing of Brochures, Signs and Business Cards to promote their business.

The Kayak Challenge features 9 different groups; elite, elite recreational, recreational, open, novice, seniors elite, youth and celebrity challenge. All of the categories except the by-invitation celebrity challenge require an entry fee. Winners in each category, with the exception of the celebrity challenge, win cash prizes from $200 to $1,500.

The Festival will consist of Art in the Park, community booths, musical acts, and the Paddling Film Festival world tour. There will also be exhibitor’s tables available for rental for businesses and non-profit organizations to promote themselves; each exhibitor can rent a 10 x 12 foot display area for $40.

Art in the Park will take place in Mountjoy Particpark and will feature artists from Northern Ontario. The artists will exhibit their artworks and those works will be available for sale. Artistic genres expected to be featured include painting, printmaking, sculpture mixed media, jewellery and photography. Each artist will set up a canopy to display his or her works. Face painting artists will also be in attendance. Art in the Park will run from 9 am to 5 pm both days.

Musical guests expected to perform at the Festival include Jake and the Fundamentals, Sledgehammer, Leslie Ann Dupuis & First Line and Jack and the Rippers.
