Sausage making session set for Stoney Creek
Stoney Creek foodies who want to learn how they can prepare their own unique sausage recipe can attend an upcoming workshop that will be led by an experienced sausage maker.
MERIT Brewing Company’s Shawn McKinnon will be lending his talents to the interactive workshop, and he will guide the class through the process of making sausage right from the creation of the recipe. Attendees will discover how meat and other ingredients are selected and then processed through the mixer, grinder and smoker.
The class, which has space for eight students, will include a tasting session. Participants will have a chance to sample MERIT’s complete line of sausages, and this will be paired with a flight consisting of 4 beers. At the end of the morning, attendees will be going home with a package of four sausages and a better knowledge of the steps in making them.
Those who are interested are reminded that they will be handling uncooked meat, and they are asked to inform the host about any food allergies they might have when they register. It is open to anyone who is 19 or over. Print shops can supply an event like this with tasting glasses and other products that can be created with a company's logo design.
MERIT Brewing Company can be found at 107 James Street North in Hamilton. Its sausage making session will be held on March 10.
