Mississauga workshop explore native plants

From wintergreen, partridgeberry and other ground covers to huge tulip trees, savvy gardeners know the value of choosing native species, and a Mississauga workshop will share this knowledge with a new crop of home horticulturalists.

Credit Valley Conservation recently announced that it will be hosting a casual chat and connect for those interested in learning about native shrubs, trees and flowers. Everyone is encouraged to bring along any questions, and be prepared to walk away with tips they can use.

The participants will discuss how native plants can be used to prepare resilient gardens that invite nature in. They will find out how to choose the best species and cultivar for a particular location, and it's open to anyone who is interested. Advance registration is not needed, and light snacks will be available. Two subject matter experts in the field of creating sustainable home landscapes will address the crowd, and the activity is slated for Halo Espresso Bar.

Learning sessions can range from in classroom experiences to in the field walking workshops. No matter what style is chosen, Stationery printers will be pleased to supply handouts and other materials.

Credit Valley Conservation will be helping the community to get a bit greener with this native plant-focused presentation set for May 6th. It will run from 6:30 pm until 7:30 pm at 3024 Hurontario Street.
