Mississauga realtors give back to the community

Over 70 Mississauga area realtors, as well as their friends, family and supporters, gathered for the start of an annual two-day motorcycle run which took place on Wednesday and Thursday last week. The event was organized to raise some much needed funds for local charities.

The day started out with a hearty breakfast hosted by the Mississauga Real Estate Board, and Rogers Wireless and the Mississauga News were also on hand to help thank the participants and wish them a safe time in their travels.

The riders left from the board’s offices, and made several stops at the Real Estate Board offices in Oakville, Kitchener, Hannover, and Tobermory before for turning in for the night.

After a good night’s sleep, the riders headed to continue their excursion to Sault St. Marie. To let others know about their good work and encourage them to perhaps do a good deed of their own, they held aloft a Realtors Care Foundation banner which had been produced by a printing company just for this year’s trip.

The two day journey always offers a good time full of fun and camaraderie for those who participate, and it allows them a chance to give back to their community.

Since it started in 2006, the event has raised over $550,000 for local charities, with 100 per cent of the proceeds going to those in need. Last year’s ride to Niagara netted over $31,000. This year, the funds will be donated to local area shelters for women and children.
