Mississauga City Council proposing changes that support innovation and technology

If things go as planned, a recent move by Mississauga City Council could result in new high-tech enterprises coming to Sheridan Business Park.

According to Ward 2 councillor Karen Ras, the council is excited about the proposed upcoming changes, as they could result in the city becoming a hub for science and technology in the area.

The plans are designed to attract the kinds of business that provide support to the science and technology sector, and build partnerships between institutions such as University of Toronto-Mississauga and Sheridan College – which are carrying out cutting edge research – and the companies that can provide the materials they need to make their discoveries. The belief is that this could result in many high paying, stable jobs for residents.

Consultations were undertaken by the council with the businesses that currently reside in the park, as well as those in the surrounding area, and a draft plan has been prepared of the proposed changes to the land use planning framework used by the city and also its zoning bylaws. The changes are expected to be adopted by the council sometime during the Spring 2015.

Local Print companies could be used to provide all of the printed materials that are needed, and also produce printed Copies of the results for distribution to interested parties.
