One of the projects funded by the Lions Club is a program that trains service dogs for those living with a disability, and a fundraiser will soon be held in support of its efforts.
The organization has partnered with Pet Valu to bring Walk for Dog Guides to the public in Mississauga. Those who would like to get involved can join in on their own or as a team, and fundraising tools have been created to help the participants meet or exceed their goal.
The walk, which is part of a national effort, has become a yearly tradition, and to date, it has raised more than $20 million for Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides. There are several options in Ontario for those who would like to take part, and one will be held near Mississauga and can be accessed by public transit. It will be held in the evening, and anyone who would like to make a contribution but cannot take part in person is encouraged to make a donation.
Fundraising walks often also serve as awareness raisers, which may make signage an important part of the equation. Such signage can be sourced from a local poster printing company.
The Pet Valu Walk for Dog Guides will be held on May 27th. The staging area will be set up at the Bloor Street entrance of High Park.
